Virtual International Conference on Medical Education in the Pandemic
Part 1 COVID-19 and Residency TrainingThe COVID-19 pandemic has caused a disruption in the training of doctors and
other health professionals. The times call for “all-hands-on-deck” to quell the
increase and spread of COVID-19. At the same time, other medical and surgical
conditions are delayed and or may be unserved due to the additional precautions
needed to contain infections in health facilities. It is necessary to address the
pandemic; but it is equally important to continue to produce medical professionals
who are skilled and equipped to do more than just respond to COVID-19.
As part of continuing efforts to protect the frontline against the backdrop of rising
numbers of COVID-19 infections in the community, and as part of the STOP COVID
DEATHS Webinar Series, this Virtual International Conference on Medical
Education in the Pandemic is a first in a series of special webinar events to jump
start an initiative to address the challenges of training doctors against the backdrop
of COVID-19.
